From May 13 to May 16, 2025, the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service took part in events as part of the implementation of the international project “Safe and Effective Borders in the Carpathian Region” within the framework of the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary–Slovakia–Romania–Ukraine 2021–2027 Cross-border Cooperation Programme, with the financial support of the European Union.
The international project “Safe and Effective Borders in the Carpathian Region” aims to improve cross-border cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary through the modernization of border crossing point infrastructure, the introduction of European border management standards, and the creation of favourable conditions for economic growth in border regions.
During the kick-off meeting in Uzhhorod (May 13–14) and the international conference in Kisvárda, Hungary (May 15–16), the strategic directions for project implementation were presented, expected results were defined, and visits were made to the Záhony and Beregsurány border crossing points to familiarize participants with their infrastructure and discuss possible ways for its modernization.
During the conference in Kisvárda (Hungary), a representative of the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service presented the Department’s activities, focusing on its key areas of work.
The implementation of further project activities, including joint training sessions at border crossing points, will be an important step towards deepening constructive cooperation between the neighbouring states and strengthening common security on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.
