Eliminating gender stereotypes in customs authorities is a step toward strengthening the institutional capacity of the Service

On 12 February 2026, an informational online event for officials of the Khmelnytskyi Customs was held by the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service of Ukraine (Department).

The event was conducted in the format of an open dialogue on common gender stereotypes that may negatively affect the activities of the State Customs Service, HR processes, and organizational culture. Particular attention was paid to presenting the experience of foreign customs administrations, as well as the achievements and future prospects of the State Customs Service within the implementation of its Action Plan on ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men.

The systematic organization of such events is a step toward enhancing the institutional capacity of the State Customs Service and aligning its activities with modern European standards of public administration, fostering a safe, comfortable, and inclusive working environment, and strengthening the principles of respect, equality, and professionalism within customs teams. In addition to organizing awareness-raising activities on gender issues, the Department is actively involved in the activities of the working groups on the implementation of gender policy and the gender audit within the State Customs Service, and chairs the Virtual Working Group of the World Customs Organization on Gender Equality and Diversity in Customs.
