Acquaintance with modern practices of application of non-intrusive customs control methods of the Republic of Poland

On June 11-13, 2024 representatives of the Department for Special Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service paid a study visit to the X-ray Image Analysis Centre in Gdansk, Poland, to exchange experience in the field of training of scanning system operators and further development of non-intrusive customs control systems.

The National Revenue Administration of the Republic of Poland (NRA) was represented by: Marcin Gołaszewski – Deputy Director of the Regional Office of the NRA in Gdańsk, Wojciech Gęsikowski – Head of the Centre for X-ray Image Analysis of the Regional Office of the NRA in Gdańsk, Marian Wisławski – Head of the Centre for X-ray Image Analysis of the Regional Office of the NRA in Gdańsk. Gdańsk, Marian Wiszniewski – international trainer in X-ray image recognition and current operator of X-ray systems, Krzysztof Gronowski – IT expert of the Centre for X-ray Image Analysis and Wiesława Koter – expert of the Tax and Customs Academy of NRA.

The main goals and objectives of the visit were:

  • Establishment of direct cooperation between Ukrainian, Moldovan and Polish educational institutions.
  • Exchange of experience in the field of training of scanning system operators, including initial training and advanced training.
  • Learning about the methods and processes of using different types of scanning systems in the Republic of Poland.

In addition to the representatives from Ukraine, the event was also attended by representatives of the Customs Training Centre and officials from the Customs Administration of the Republic of Moldova.

The event was made possible thanks to the assistance and support provided by the European Union Border Assistance Mission to Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova – EUBAM.
