On April 28, 2022, within the framework of the cooperation agreement with the Western Ukrainian National University (WUNU), second and fourth-year students of the educational program “Finance in the customs system” of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting and Konstantin Forsyuk, state chief inspector-canine inspector of the Division of Canine and Veterinary services of the Directorate of Canine Services of the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service (Department), participated in online meeting.
During the meeting the students of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting of WUNU were acquainted with:
legal aspects of the use of service dogs in the activities of the State Customs Service;
tasks of the Department on implementation of canine services;
specifics and peculiarities of the civil service as a canine inspector of the State Customs Service, as well as the staffing of canine teams in the State Customs Service;
special training of canine teams of the State Customs Service;
cooperation with law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, international activities and the use of canine teams in the fight against smuggling, violations of customs regulations, as well as the illicit trafficking in prohibited articles and substances in Ukraine;
control over the keeping of service dogs.
Particular interest was paid to employment as a canine inspector at the customs, as well as use of service dogs in activities to search for prohibited items and substances. In conclusion, the students thanked for an interesting lecture.
