Message from the State Customs Service of Ukraine at the annual WCO Photo Competition 2025: from Indomitability to Prosperity

The World Customs Organization (WCO) traditionally holds its annual  Photo Competition, with this year’s theme being Aerial Surveillance. The competition saw participation from 64 customs administrations worldwide, and the victory went to Brazil.

It is worth recalling that in 2022, the State Customs Service of Ukraine was the winner of the contest with the photograph, “You may break down our walls but never our spirit.” This photo symbolized the indomitability of Ukrainian Customs, its resilience, and its capacity to ensure the uninterrupted customs clearance of international aid, even amid destruction.

In 2025, the State Customs Service of Ukraine presented its work under the slogan, “Confidence in the Future.” Despite the full-scale invasion and the blockade of the Black Sea ports, which effectively severed Ukraine from maritime trade routes and made container shipping impossible, customs officers continued to perform their duties with dedication and professionalism. Their submission highlighted the important role of canine units in customs control. This operational aspect was also reflected in the works of customs administrations from Armenia, Austria, Chile, Denmark, Fiji, Georgia, India, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Moldova, and the Netherlands, underscoring the global recognition of the significance of canine support in customs matters.

From indomitability to prosperity—this is the path the State Customs Service of Ukraine is demonstrating, confidently moving forward, developing modern areas of activity, and strengthening its authority on the international stage.
