Participation in training on combating environmental crimes

On May 30, 2023, an expert of the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services at the invitation of the Public Union “World Wildlife Fund Ukraine” and within the framework of the project “SWiPE – Effective investigation of crimes against wildlife in Europe” was involved in the training “Peculiarities of pre-trial investigation of criminal offenses against environment”, which takes place in Kyiv from May 30 to June 1, 2023. Representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office, the State Customs Service, the Ministry of the Environment, the State Fisheries Agency Of Ukraine, the World Wide Fund for Nature Ukraine, the legal community, legal experts and scientific organizations, representatives of law enforcement agencies of the French Republic are participating in the event.

The training included presentations and practical session focused on the role of customs authorities in preventing environmental crimes. The main provisions of international environmental conventions on the movement of goods across the customs border of Ukraine were highlighted. Thus, the participants were introduced to the procedure and features of customs control and registration of goods, in particular timber.
