Participation of the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service of Ukraine in the Trilateral Expert Meeting of Representatives from the Customs Services of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and Romania

On February 27, 2025, the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service of Ukraine(Department) participated in the first trilateral meeting of representatives from the customs services of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and Romania. The meeting was held at the “Porubne-Siret” Border Crossing Point (within the Chernivtsi Customs zone of operation) in accordance with the agreements reached during the trilateral meeting of the heads of Customs Administrations of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and Romania (Chisinau, October 30, 2024).

One of the agenda items was dedicated to an important and strategic initiative aimed at strengthening cross-border cooperation in the customs sphere among the three customs authorities, namely the creation of a Regional Platform for Institutional Development of the Customs Administrations of Romania, the Republic of Moldova, and Ukraine as an online environment for information exchange and dissemination (Platform MD-RO-UA).

The State Customs Service of Ukraine, specifically the Department, presented a video presentation of the Platform MD-RO-UA project. Representatives from the Republic of Moldova and Romania expressed their vision of the platform’s structure and functionality.

Following the discussion of the agenda items, an agreement was reached to inform the leadership about the necessity of identifying contact persons from each customs administration to form working groups. These groups will be responsible for developing joint documents, including an action plan and the objectives of the groups’ activities for each agenda item.
