The 3rd month of training in Spain, organized with the assistance of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, for trainees, in particular canine teams instructors of the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service, was marked by practicing the generalization of the skills of introducing a scent, search work and marking of bookmarks by a service dog.

In particular, by placing an open and hidden kong in different parts of the room; waiting for a vehicle, training the search system and the intensity of searching cars and premises; as well as skills for overcoming an obstacle course (ring, tunnel, boom, barrier, book), etc. In addition, on the way to successful acquisition of obedience skills by service dogs according to the Frontex methodology, dogs were tested for suitability according to the Scandinavian test.

Another significant event of the 13th academic week was the involvement of Mr Gonzalo Brito, international instructor, head of the National Unit for Canine Activities (Lisbon, Portugal) in conducting the classes.

It was a great opportunity to gain teaching experience, including developing presentation materials and using effective teaching techniques, as well as gaining knowledge and getting questions answered. And all this in order to share the acquired knowledge with colleagues in Ukraine in the future instructional activity.
