In the period from 12.05.2021till 13.05.2021 the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service of Ukraine organized and conducted a specialized course on the topic “Detection and Prevention of Transboundary Environmental Offenses”.

The event was attended by officials of the State Customs Service of Ukraine and representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, in particular Ms.Valentina Vasylenko, Deputy Director of the Department – Head of the Ozone Layer Protection Department of the Climate Policy and Ozone Layer Conservation, and Mr.Yurii Bondarenko, Deputy Director of the Department – Head of the Department of Pesticides and Agrochemicals Registration of the Department of Environmental Management, as well as a representative of the World Wildlife Fund – Ms.Anna Gaiova. The event was moderated by Svitlana Zhyrnova and Pavlo Biletskyi, the experts of the Department.

During the event, topical issues of control over the transboundary movement of hazardous wastes, pesticides, persistent organic pollutants were disclosed and practical steps to implement the provisions of international conventions such as Basel, Rotterdam, Stockholm, Vienna and Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) were considered.

The event ended with the presentation of certificates of advanced training for a specialized short-term program.
