PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL PROJECT “CITY OF PROFESSIONS”

On September 04, 2021 the representatives of the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service of Ukraine took part in an event, as part of the international children’s social project “City of Professions”, held in Khmelnytskyi.

The main goal of the project is to immerse children in the world of professions and to form a desire in the future to choose their favorite business.

During the event, representatives of the Department informed about the requirements for an inspector-dog handler in the State Customs Service in an interesting and meaningful way; about dog breeds used by the State Customs Service; criteria for selection of sniffer dogs for their suitability for training; stages of training of dog handlers and sniffer dogs of the State Customs Service; the procedure for veterinary care, maintenance and feeding of sniffer dogs of the State Customs Service; the procedure for using canine teams of the State Customs Service during customs control.

Children and adults watched with admiration the practical work of the Department’s canine team on the detection for weapons, ammunition, banknotes, as well as  tobacco products on vehicles, luggage, and the work of sniffer dogs in double specialization at the differential rack. All comers had the opportunity to try themselves in the role of an inspector-dog handler. In general, the children received a lot of positive emotions and were able to feel like real adults.  We hope that after this holiday many young visitors to the interactive town will connect their future with the profession of a “dog handler”.
