Four-week induction training of canine teams on narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and tobacco products, has been successfully completed by 7 newly created canine teams of customs of Lviv, Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy and one canine team of the Department, at the premises of the Department for Specialized Training and Canine Services of the State Customs Service of Ukraine (hereinafter – the Department).

The Department carried out two weeks measures to adapt three sniffer dogs of customs of Zakarpattia and Lviv, immediately before the start of this course. This adapt measures included: socialization (loyal attitude to people, animals and search objects); getting used to playing with and retrieving of fetching objects at different facilities and premises; methods in which detecting different scenes appointments are made; detecting different scenes. These measures provided an opportunity to adapt sniffer dogs to new living and work conditions.

On successfully passing the examination, all dog handlers were issued the appropriate certificates. Then, in a few days, canine teams will return to the locations of the divisions and begin directly its work to protect country’s borders from the illigal movement of prohibited items and substances, using the acquired knowledge.
